This is a submersible wet chamber containing a high-intensity UV bulb. The bulb gives off powerful ultraviolet wave emissions at a wavelength tuned to disrupt the DNA in most waterborne microorganisms, rendering them harmless. Targets include algae spores, protozoa, bacteria, amoebas, viruses and more.

This technique allows spa and pool owners to use far less chemical solutions to eliminate organic contaminants in non-potable water. While UV cleaning isn't officially rated for potability, a UV bulb operating at full power will produce fresh water at near-potable levels without any chemical assistance. Continuous cycling through this lamp keeps microorganism levels far lower than untreated water.
