In order to protect the filter cartridge from harm, this Top Load filter has a bypass valve that opens when the water pressure is high. This filter is perfect for spas with two-speed pumps. When the pump is operating at a low speed, the water is completely filtered, but when the pump is operating at a fast speed—which also prevents pressure loss in the massage jets—the valve opens to allow some of the water to flow without filtration.
